Ever wondered what is Internet Marketing and how it works? Well, Internet Marketing is a subset of electronic commerce (in short e-commence) and is also known as On-line Marketing.
Components in Internet Marketing includes provision of solution, information, services and sales.
As Internet access is becoming widely available, the popularity of Internet Marketing as a form of income generation also increases. In 2006 alone there were 250 billion searches in the Internet and US$170 billions of sales were transacted On-line in that year.
In fact doing business on the On-line is no different from doing Off-line business. Internet Marketing also comes in several models – the main one being business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customer (B2C). There is also another less common model known as peer-to-peer (P2P); in this model individuals actually exchange goods between themselves. The B2C model was the earliest to begin because it is the easiest to start. And to-date there are many entrepreneurial individuals who started their businesses On-line selling various kind of information and services.
The strategies employed in Internet Marketing also makes use of direct response strategies that were traditionally used in direct mail, radio, TV infomercials but now applied to the Internet space.
Internet Marketing also operates in various formats. One of it is name-your-price, where customer are able to state what price range they wish to pay for the item that they are interested in, e.g. Priceline.com, Hotwire.com. The other common format now is the On-line auctions where buyers can bid on the items they interested in, e.g. Ebay.com.
