I have been recently assigned to look at service improvement in my department and this has sparked a series of thoughts. For me service has never been an issue and I like to help people but suddenly when I have to consider improving the service for a department then this becomes a whole new ball game, I think.

Do we have to have a service level agreement with our users in order to proof that we are out there to help them in times of need? Well, my answer is a ‘Yes’ and a ‘No’. Yes because this will serve as a guideline for the service provider to follow and this is good for newcomer to the service team. And in the case of a disagreement between users and the service provider this becomes an avenue of recourse. This also serves as a guide for the management if there is enough staff to upkeep the service level. Of course the cost for justification of increasing headcounts just to maintain the service level has always been management nightmare, especially in bad economic times.

I am not fully in favor of an agreement are because service is actually beyond service agreement and service ticket. It would also add undue stress to the service staff if the agreement is not carefully crafted.

If there is an agreement between users and the service provider, then shouldn’t there be an agreement between the different supporting teams within the service providing department? Many a times this is always neglected. But really, is there a need to?

My personal opinion is that service must come naturally from within us, all of us are a service provider in one way or another, be it at work, at home or out in the public, with your colleagues, friends or relations. Do we have a service agreement with them?

Service is also not about solving the problems that the customer is facing but also the time for relationship building. Having a good relationship with the customer is also a kind of service level. Having a good relationship between the customer and the service provider will also helps to get things done faster, and also less likely to kick up a fuss out of a molehill.

This is all well and good in an ideal situation but there are also instances where relationship building is almost close to impossible. This is when the time spent with the customer is so short or the customer is in a mood that relationship building is out of the questions. I suppose this is when an agreement and a service ticket will come in handy. But generally how many of such cases will that be within a company? Everyone are colleagues how many will want to put the other party in a difficult position?

In my years of experience, the importance of having a good and cordial, if not a close (not intimate, this is a definite no here and will only complicate matter) relationship between use and the service provider goes beyond that of a service agreement and service ticket.

In my last post I mentioned that I found that the common tread between dreams and the ‘nitty gritty’ reasons are feelings, desires, goals and ACTION! Do, after having established what our dreams are or having revived those dreams that we have put into hibernation for, what do we do then live it? Can we keep on dreaming new dreams? Do we drop old ones?

I personally feel that we should hold on to our dreams, if we keep changing it because we are not able to achieve them then we are indirectly giving ourselves excuses for things that didn’t work out.

In order to succeed and live our dreams, there are series of things that we also have to do, apart from planning and putting those plan in action, we have to work on ourselves! Only when we are able to improve our ‘inside’ can we then have a clearer picture of what we are, what our capabilities are, what we need to do.

One of the important that we have to work on are our thoughts. Why do I say that? Thoughts are energy and they create your destiny. Our thoughts will have impact on our environment and everything around us. We should control our thoughts and don’t let it control you! The energy that is generated through thoughts can be focused and only by doing so can we raise our energy level!

Our mind is the most POWERFUL tool and we have the power to create all that we want by using it properly. Your destination and what you are can be changed and managed by changing the way and what you tell yourself who you are!

‘Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm’ – Sir Winston Churchill
———————————————————————————————

In the last post I said that it is important that we have dreams and the main speaker, Matt Morris, of the seminar that I attended also said that we must dream big dreams if we want to succeed in life.

Recently I another article by Jim Rohn, in this article he said that in his early days of struggle to success, what motivated and provoked him to achieve success was because of a very simple reason, and he called it a nitty gritty reason in this article. Before he ended the article he said that hidden in everyone of us there are nitty gritty reasons that can provoke, challenge and motivate us to change for the better, to achieve success!

But what has dream and the nitty gritty reasons that Jim Rohn talked about have in common that can motivate one to achieve success?

I did some research and the outcome of it is this:

Reason is often seen as the servant or tool to emotions or feeling, and desires, drives or passions. It is the means of sorting out our desires and then getting what we want. In order to get what we want there must be an action plan and the drive to get what we desire.

In dreams, if we want to live our dreams, we must first decide what we want, turn our dream into measurable goals, break those goals into specific action steps, and then visualise and affirm our desired outcome – of course we must start taking action in order to achieve our goals!

So what these 2 have in common are feelings, desires, goals and ACTION!

‘Dream big dreams! Imagine that you have no limitations and then decide what’s right before you decide what’s possible.’ – Brain Tracy.

———————————————————————————————

After much soul searching and thinking I have come to a conclusion that it is because I do not have an objective for my blog, focus and I do not know what I want and what my dreams are!

In order for my blog to progress better and faster, I have decided that I should first pen my thoughts on paper before transferring it to my blog. This may sound like double effort but double effort is better than no effort in regularly updating my blog. This also has another advantage – it allows me time to think and visualise what I want to say!

Are you also in the same situation as I? Do you also first pen your thoughts on a piece of paper before transferring it to your blog?

Coming back to focus and dreams, I was at a seminar a few days ago and one of the main speakers was sharing his 7 strategies for 7 digit income and what come on top of the list was DREAMS!

Dreams are important and it is dream that motivate and drive us to success! Without dreams is like a car without the steering wheel – you will not be able to get it to bring to your destination.

All of us have dreams, whether big or small, but most of the time our dreams diminishes and often vanishes as we grow and become deeply involved in the reality of everyday life.

Why does dream diminishes or vanishes as we grow? I had never given it a second thought, ‘It’s part of growing up,’ I would say if somebody asked. But eventually, after having attended self development courses and seminars, and much thinking, I realised that, through personal encounters, the reasons why dreams diminishes or vanishes were many. When we were a young individual many of us were told when we were young that dreams are just dreams and they are not able to support our life. ‘Study and specialise in a course that allows you to get a good paying job easily!’ most parents would have said. One of the other reasons is that we are so caught up with the reality of everyday life of working hard for somebody else business so that we can bring home a nice decent cheque that we have forgotten our dreams and to dream new dreams!

Are you also in the same situation as I? Where dreams were forgotten and new ones did not come forth?

‘If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.’ – Henry David Thoreau (1817 – 1862)
